The Sirius boatyard was established in 1971 in Plön, in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein. Today about 75 dedicated boat builders, carpenters and technicians make some 12 to 14 deck-saloon yachts annually, each specifically tailored to the needs of her owner. Although the company is small, its long history, its outstanding designs and its aim of always working to the highest standards have made Sirius into a synonym for quality in the industry.

Our yachts are not only built for high latitudes, but also feel equally at home in the tropics. A good climate onboard is ensured thanks to the many deck hatches and windows that constantly provide pleasant ventilation. Our yachts use one of three rudder designs; a single rudder with a skeg on our fin keel or twin keel options or twin rudders on our lifting keel yacht and the twin keeled 40DS, we also have the option of a third rudder (watch the video to find out why). Great boat. Really good choices in terms of layout the boat. No big open spaces like on Jeanneau, Hanse or Beneteau. This is how it should be done. Safety is here on #1. Im wondering if there wil be a Sirius 45 DS version of this boat in the future.

is that real wood or ikea stuff?
Yes, it is real wood and feels like it, but ...In our search for alternatives to the unsuitable oak and esh interiors, we have finaly decided on Alpi, an engineered wood that achieves better UV resistance (without yellowing or darkening of light woods) and is just as resistant to knocks and rotting as the familiar Sapele mahogany we have used for decades. We’ll continue to offer the beautiful Sapele on our yachts, but Alpi is a real wood that has been sliced, stained, and glued to create a uniform appearance or a distinctive grain pattern or colour. This offers you more creativity in your choice of wood variety, colour, and grain than we had offered before. Alpi also gives you the option of using exotic hardwoods that range from rich black Makassar Ebony to white Alberta Maple. Not only can the finish be the interior be the wood’s natural colour, but Alpi is available stained in many colours and tones - there is even a rainbow-stained option, but our craftsmen and women might not thank you for choosing it! Alpi has proven to be an excellent product - our craftsmen can shape and form it in the same way they work with the Sapele Mahogany. We’ll continue to use the same thickness of wood as before so you can rest assured, we’ll maintain our Sirius quality and finish regardless of the material you choose for your interior.

This is just one of my big loves. the other one is the swallow yachts baycruiser 26. If the Sirius is a perfect Home, the baycruiser is the perfect tiny house. Actually I can't stop watching videos with the both makers, Torsten Schmidt and Matt Newland.

Beautiful boat. But How do I put up the bimini? Why didnt the mainsheet go to a traveler on the cabin top?
We offer three different options for the mainsheet. Our standard is a mainsheet attached to a mainsheet horse above the steering wheel. But if you want a mainsheet-free cockpit and a bimini that effectively covers the cockpit from the cabin to the stern, then we can offer you a targa arch steel-GRP-construction.

Yes, it was nearly no wind at all and so the movement of the boom a bit unpredictable. It’s easy - and advisable - to operate the halyards standing on the cockpit sole. The boom is 2m above it and the coachroof only 1,4m high…

…die reine Sitzgruppenlänge ist 2,5m lang und dank des nach Stb versetzten Niedergangs ein volles U. Sie kann auf Wunsch zum dritten bzw. vierten Doppelbett gestaltet werden, aber auch ohne den Tisch abzusenken gibt es außen eine gemütlich breite Einzelkoje, die durch ein Leesegel zur perfekten Wachgängerkoje/Aussichtsplatz wird.

Torsten, the boss at Sirius, only had ONE minus with its boats ... the style. He has very nice ideas, the best on the market. Sirius is designing a very nice floorplan, the best in the 40 ft range. Perfect building quality and materials used. Best boat on the market overall BUT in terms of style ... it was very, very old school. But now, it's fixed. And it's perfect. 100%. When I have the cash, I'll come buy my boat and wait 3 years for the delivery.
Torsten, Sir! There is a reason why you have made 200+ 40DS and countless 35DS and 310's without light wood. The reason is it has nothing to do onboard a boat like this. However you build boat for a customer and this is how the customer wants the boat built. Personally I am sorry for him, style dosent go out of fashion but light interior wood will

The first time I saw light oak wood used in the interior of a sailing yacht was when the late Pieter Beelsnijder used it in one of his 40ft designs. I was really surprised (positive) by the airiness of the interior. The same counts for your yacht's interior. It is the first time since long that I see it again.
